What's All The Hullabloo? pages 29-32

Finished color of the four pager. Here is the story behind this. Back in 1967 my mind was blown by Jim Steranko when he drew a four page spread in Strange Tales 167. To see the whole thing you had to buy two books and lay them side by side. I never did that. 24 cents was a lot of money for a kid back then. So as a joke I thought why not do a four page story but change it up and have it start on an even page so that to see the whole panorama you would have to get three books. (I have to amuse myself these days) Anyway long story short, I don't expect anyone to ever do that and thanks to the miracle of the internet I can share it for free. Hope you enjoy it.

So I says to myself, Steve I says, You know what would be fun? Get around to doing a four page spread like you always wanted to since Steranko did way back when. It'll be fun, I says. Well, still working on it.

R. G. (Rick) Taylor

The story "Meltdown!" I'm working on was originally written a few years ago for R. G. Taylor but he decided to do the above story instead. The story was printed in Negative Burn #21 and collected with some other great stories in a trade paperback collection called Growing Up With Comics. Rick is best known in comics for illustrating "Wordsmith" written by Dave Darrigo and "Silencers" with Mark Askwith but these days he's doing some fantastic landscape and streetscape paintings that can be viewed here. Check it out. It's well worth the trip.

Hogtown Jaz

Hogtown Jaz: The Perfect Fall Guy was the first graphic novel I put online. It was not actually done in a traditional comic book format but rather designed to look like a wide screen movie with copy placed beneath the panel. My original inspiration was Steranko's "Chandler" graphic novel "Red Tide" but this story was set in the present.
