Happy Birthday Moebius
Joyeux anniversaire! Jean Giraud (Moebius). Born on this day in 1938, Jean first came to prominence in his native France drawing the western adventures of Lieutenant Blueberry, written by Jean-Michel Charlier for the magazine Pilote. In the 70s though his fame spread worldwide with his alternative, surreal visions using the name Moebius in the magazine he co-created, Metal Hurlant. Above is a sketch I have in my collection that he did on a visit to Toronto in 1987.
